VDR2 FAQ
Goldendale 2005 This year Eddieville (Goldendale WA) was the site of the Season Finale of the three race Summer Series that Hammer & Tongs has become. In 2003 H&T began as a one off summer Race born out of exasperation that Motocross Races within 1000 miles were only available for pre 1975 Bikes. In 2004 it was a bigger better race, and in 05 the series started, numbers of Vintage Motocross entrants growing. This time was a two day affair, a Saturday Gran Prix added. This was the first Vintage GP in the Northwest. The course was a 3.5 mile over rolling hills, gullies and meadows. (GP course w/ part of the MX Track) The Overall GP was taken by Maico Rider MARVIN NEWTON. Sunday was Motocross. Click for the results of Vintage & Evolution which were run togather, as they have been since 1991 when VDR began. Dust here is always a serious concern (see above) required constant watering which made spots very slick and required finesse. As with all challenging courses, the cream of the field rose to the top. The makes Relay was won this time by Grubin's Husqvarna Team. Afternoon motos were cut, as they often are to save time of the program is lagging any, but Eddieville's lap times are near five minutes, so even a 2 lap moto is plenty of Racing. Russ Hoehn won the King of Hammer & Tongs competition by winning 13 motos across the three race series and the prize was the much sought after custom helmet seen on the right. The series was a real success, and a very great thanks to the many who worked so hard to make it all happen. Above all others Jim Conway, Lyndell Raphael, Ray Stipe & Len Lowery deserve honors for making this Race Series rule. |
