Hey-
did you see that really muddy rider?
VDR Newcomer Guenther, before & after

Woodland, November 2005 Driving Rain all week, morning motos almost perfect, rain increasing though the day, very muddy by the end of the race day, 174 entries New Riders included Dylan Olson, Mike Norwood and the return of Steve Pulsinelli. Welcome back, man. JT Kroupa and Sadie Simmons (who are engaged) won their respective classes. Michael McCook visited from the East Coast, albeit w/o riding gear anmd beheld mud rain and horsepower all mixed up in one day. FRITZ GUENTHER Woodland 11/05/05 My open evo moto following the fast guys so I staged behind Doug, a super fast guy on #95 Maico 490. Thought I'd be smart and watch what he does on the start and learn from him. This is my second moto on the Maico 490 and it's getting pretty sloppy. Doug uses 2nd gear and like most all the guys fishtails to the first turn through the slop. I'm at the gate and use second gear as well, good start, no one I can see in front or to the sides of me, I won the first moto so all I need to do is finish in a decent place and I'll be happy. Off the line in second gear, a quick shift into third to let the big Maico do it's thing, still no one I can see so it's looking like I have a good chance at a holeshot, short shift into fourth gear and the front end starts to come up, not fast but just enough to let me know I'm getting max hook-up in the slop now I know I've got the holeshot because no one can be getting this much traction to get the front wheel in the air. Then the big Maico comes on the pipe and it's OH $#/+ time, right over backwards. In this slop? Must be a bad dream, oh well get the bike going and start catching riders as best you can, but wait, the whole back end of the bike is just flat gone, seat, fender, silencer, still all attached, just not to the bike. I busted off the whole rear frame taking everything with it. Thanks to all who helped pick up the pieces and get the bike back to my pit! The worst day of racing still beats the best day at work. This was my first race at Woodland and I'd like to thank all who made me feel welcome and part of the group. -Fritz Guenther Maico 490 12Z Maico 440 22T special thanks to LEROY BUTLER for the stop action stills below - cj
