DISGRACEFUL BRAWL breaks out in in Vintage Motocross Grandstands- after fan tosses con rod at passing Racer • story below

• Brawl • Has the NBA's bad example finally reached Vintage Motocross? An unidentified fan tossed a fork seal at one of the racers, who leapt across the fence and the ensuing meleê that followed was one of VDR's darkest moments. The riders involved in the riot that broke out in the stands were suspended, many in mid air- a rider named "Mike B" can be seen above trying to hide his face by passing our photographer at high speed. A PTA member writes in: "I think these individuals that took part in this fiasco exhibited a behavior more representative of world wrestling entertainers than vintage motocrossers!Next thing you know they are showing up at riders meetings with (scantily clad)big breasted blondes, driving Ferraris to the concession stand and grabbing the microphone from Blake at the rider's meeting to rant and rave about the foe they will be "running over like road kill"on the track!Someone needs to step up and put an end this before it escalates!"

RIDER SUSPENDED • Mike Borseth airborne over the tunnel.

100 CLASS • James Bodkin holding up Kawasaki's honor.

• 100 Class • OK- it's official- in December the 100 Class was the Biggest Class with nine entrants- Lyndel Raphael again trouncd everyone, with Shaun Price and Jeff Harshman dukin' it out for second. 100cc Fever seems to being sweeping the scene with Hodaka and Honda topping the results sheets. Where are the Yamahas?

• Woodland in DecemberThird time's the charm, right? Or is it three times lucky? or maybe that three men may keep a secret as long as two of them are dead! ANYWAY... THREE times now the weather report has predicted showers and mud, and instead it's been dry ALL day and perfect racing weather. The joke's on anyone who got skeered and stayed at home, ha ha.

• Unlimited Rule Change • Blake has made it official: the Unlimited Class now allows linkage suspended bikes, and Hammer & Tongs rules will now reflect this

• New Faces • If I can call it right, we had a number of new faces this time out- Hammer & Tongs Sponsor: Vintage Iron's Rick Doughty came up to visit us in the Pacific NW and ripped it up on a VRM Maico- sadly Rick had to depart to a plane before the day was done- Chandra Newton on the trick XR75 took a 5th first time out, Guitar Player Mike Borseth came out with pal Tazio Andresilr and the two of them shared an Unlimited Maico. Mike was fast right out of the box, and held off Scott McAllister & Mark Schmidt, both fast men. Steve Wood, Rick Ferris, Chris Diamond I believe also new faces to our crazy sport. David Mitchell ran Jim Conway's Maico... says he's hooked.

MIKE BORSETH • Saturday at Woodland was the best time I've had in a long time. Thanks to everybody involved in VDRNW for making my first race in 15 years a really great experience. I have to admit I was a little nervous about this race. The last time I rode a scoot I came home with 3 broken ribs and had not thrown a leg over a bike since that day last spring. The only time I had on the Maico I rode Saturday was a quick run up & down a buddy's driveway 3 days before the race! I've never owned or even ridden a Maico in all my years but, I gotta say that I've never ridden a more forgiving or user friendly motorcycle yet! Half a lap and I felt totally at ease on it. It just seemed to go where and do whatever I needed it to do. It was awesome! Now, if only my tired old body would work as well we'd be quite a team. I'm stoked anyway. Got a 2nd and a 3rd in Unlimited intermediate when I fully expected to be mistaken for a course sweeper. My buddy Tazio hadn't raced a bike since 1974. The dog went out and won his class! Unbelievable...you can count on him coming back cause he was tickled to death about it. Got to hook up with an old friend (Tom McAllister) after many years and made a bunch of new ones! Thanks Siege for starting this VDR ball rolling for me puttin' me on the page my first time out. How cool are you! Thanks to Brian Anderberg for being there to obsess with me about our favorite thing...BULTACOS!!! Ya Ya Ya! And thanks to Lyndell Raphael for making me understand just how outta shape I am. Guy rides 4 classes and tells me, " I love Woodland because your arms never pump up here". I was gonna take him down for that statement......but my arms were too pumped! See ya all next month.....Gonzo •

BRAD PRICE • What a great day! We went expecting to be cold, wet and muddy, but we must go anyway. Turned out to be a nice day, I think November was colder. I had a blast on the XL350 in the vint 4 stroke class, Wow that sure is a different kind of power! The Bike was delivered to me at the track, so I had not riden it yet. I did not have the good sense to practice on it either. I bought it so I could race my son Shaun or Seth in the Vintage 4 Stroke class, nothing like a little friendly father/son competition right? Since he is on a SL100 and I weigh 218 lbs that makes it almost fair. I missed a shift before the first corner and could not catch him, but it sure was fun trying. I think he got a big kick out of beating the old man because he sure was flying in the afternoon 100cc Race. I got a better start in the afternoon race and waited for him at the finish line. Adam had fun in the XR75 Am class, other than being stuck in the only mud hole on the track when his brother lapped him. Could it be something he said on the way by? like the laughing or the roosting? sigh, brotherly love. I think I seized my Evo bike (Suzuki RS250) it was making some horrible metal on metal noise, maybe I will just leave it home next time. Yes, we will come in January, but without looking at the weather report. Rain Ready, but hoping for another dry day. Thanks All, Brad Price, Shaun, Seth, and Adam.•
