MICHAEL:
Neatly manicured hay fields,
some with evenly spaced bales, some with long, big wheeled sprinklers watering
the next crop. Orange snow-fence on a rolling hillside surrounded by low mountain
vistas on all sides. And we're supposed to race here?
If anybody wants to know
why we do this they should have been at this event. The answer was visceral.
The cliche "You had to be there" holds true. It's difficult to put into words
just how cool the whole weekend really was. It was very obvious that a great
deal of work went into this event (like all events) and I hope it was worth
it for everyone. All the tracks were challenging and fun to ride. Yeah, the
CC was dusty--the throttle does works both ways, you know. There's nothing
quite like doing 80+ mph across a hayfield (I didn't even know my Husky had
six speeds)
Saturday the first PV moto was ten laps or about twenty
five minutes (cough, cough). The MX track(s) were wide and technical (just
the way I like them) and held up well. Yeah there was some dust and some mud--so
what? Really my only downer was Don (Hansen) breaking his collar bone--and
he still had a great time, too. Anybody teetering on the edge of joining AHRMA
needs to be at events like this. Then joining would be a real no-brainer.
All props to everybody involved with throwing the best AHRMA event I've been
to in my almost three years of being a member.
